Valentine's Day in Townsville looks a little different when you grow up with a fishing rod in your hand. The TGFC Sharkies Shootout is the standout event of TGFC's junior development calendar - a full competition day on the water that gives young anglers the chance to put their skills to the test in a proper tournament environment.
The Sharkies program has been recognised by the Game Fishing Association of Australia as a template for junior development done right. These kids don't just fish - they learn to run events, manage logistics, and carry themselves with the kind of professionalism that makes the TGFC proud. The Shootout is where all of that comes together.

THE SHARKIES PROGRAM
The Sharkies Shootout is part of something bigger. The TGFC Sharkies is the club's dedicated junior development program - built from the ground up to give young North Queensland anglers a community of their own, experienced mentors alongside them, and real opportunities to compete.
The program has been recognised nationally by the Game Fishing Association of Australia as one of the best junior development initiatives in the country. Kids in the Sharkies don't just learn to fish - they learn to fund events, promote tournaments, and develop responsibilities well beyond their years.

Junior Membership: $60 per year. Must be under 16 years of age at July 1
